The multimedia journalist of BAMMJ beat their rivals from BACOM 4-2 in what was billed as the media school derby.
Played out in front of a partisan crowd of 12 at AFC Bournemouth's Dean Court stadium, BAMMJ came from behind to win on a wet afternoon on the south coast.
After the match, skipper Matt Thomas praised his side,
"I thought we played really well, and everyone pulled together as a team", he said. "It was absolutely amazing, I'm so proud of the whole team".
The team of journalists took a while to settle in their new 4-5-1 formation, and struggled to contain their opponents in the first half hour.
BACOM broke the deadlock through striker Andy Gray, who controversially beat the offside trap before slotting past BAMMJ keeper, and Wire regular, Matt Kiernan ten minutes before the interval.
But just before half time, BAMMJ striker Geoff Pruce won a free kick down the left wing after a tussle with BACOM captain Carl Burkitt.
The resulting free kick was whipped in by BAMMJ skipper Thomas and turned in by Pruce to level things up as the sides went in at the break.
The second half saw BAMMJ seize control and stunned their opponents with three quick goals that all but killed the game as a contest.
First, Thomas raced on to a through ball from Brendon MItchell and coolly beat the advancing keeper to give BAMMJ the lead.
Moments later BAMMJ extended their lead when Pruce's shot was fumbled into his own net by Tom Morgan in the BACOM goal, cue ecstatic celebrations from the tall front man.
The fourth came not long after, followng a good move down the left, the ball eventually falling to winger Dan Barnes, who drilled the ball home from eight yards via the underside of the crossbar.
BACOM responded and pushed for a way back into the game, and had a goal ruled out for offside at the height of their pressure on the BAMMJ goal.
They did eventually find a way through when second year Jamie Munro struck a dipping shot from the edge of the area after a swift counterattack.
The final whistle brought scenes of jubilation amongst the players in sky blue, as they recorded a memorable victory over their biggest rivals.
Striker Pruce was awarded Man of the Match for his two goals, but wasn't getting carried away.
"We played well but to be honest it could of, and probably should've been more. I thought their keeper played well, but 4-2, in the end that's what we wanted".
